Joseph Beckwith - Son of Matthew - b. 1653 Lyme and d. early part of 1707 m. abt. 1676 Susannah Tallman dau. of Peter Tallman, Portsmouth, R.I., b. abt. 1662 bapt. 9 July 1682. She died early in 1717. Her second marriage about 1715 was to Capt. Joseph Way of Lyme, Conn. Joseph Beckwith was an Inkeeper in Lyme, Conn. He made deeds of gifts of his entire estate to wife and two children. Will 3 April 1707 - Y.S. 1-355. He died before the deeds were offically acknowledged. He did not die in the Wood Creek Expedition in 1709.

• Court: The public records of the Colony of Connecticut, v.5, 1706/1716, Page 368, May 1713, Lyme, New London, Connecticut. Upon the petition of Susannah Way, late widow of Joseph Beckwith of Lime, praying that she may have the wages due for her apprentice Benjamin Fox, for his service in the first expedition to Wood Creek, until the time of his apprenticeship was out, which was four months and half: Ordered by this Assembly, that what shall by the Governour and Council be found remaining due upon the commissarys accounts, to the said apprentice for his said service, be paid out of the publick treasury to the said Susannah Way.
