• Baptism: From East Lyme Society Records, 29 Sep 1734, Lyme, New London, Connecticut. September 29, 1734, Elisha ye son of Hezekiah Beckwith… were baptized (pg. 17)

Note: This baptism date is incosistent with birth date given in Additional Beckwith Notes. This is the only known Elisha son of the only known Hezekiah.

• Family History: From Additional Beckwith Notes by Frederick H. Beckwith, 1956. Elisha b. 12 Oct. 1738 ”He and his wife were perniciously active loyalists. He went to Halifax 1791 without family and died there.” (A. C. Beckwith Notes)

• Family History: From Additional Beckwith Notes (1) by Frederick L Beckwith, page 6. "Early in March 1782, Sylvanus made a trip to Lyme, Conn. (Now having business in the state where his brother Elisha Beckwith is confined as the passport issued to him reads.) The business of Sylvanus was to bring back his aged father and mother."

• Family History: From Peter Wilson Coldham, American Migrations 1765-1799. Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2000. page 2. Beckwith [Bequeath], Elisha of Lyme. In May 1781 he was employed by the Army to gather intelligence on the French fleet then in Newport, RI, but was apprehended and fled to British lines in NY in November 1781. He was again taken and committed to Simsbury mines where he remained for six months under great torture but escaped and returned to NY. Memorial, now of Edinburgh, NS, sworn 29 December 1785 Halifax. Claim for shop goods; silks, beaver hats, etc. Rejected. (13/26/37-38).

Note: Memorial is the term used for the claim. NS is Nova Scotia. The numbers at the end indicate the record group, box and presumably folders the documents are in at the Public Records Office.
