• Family History: Saint Johnsville Enterprise and News, Wednesday June 24, 1936. MACK, TRUBY, THURSTON

In my inquiry published in the April 15 issue of the Enterprise and News, with respect to the ancestry of one John Mack. I have found that some of the data furnished was in error. John Mack, born Nov. 17, 1796, died Sept. 30, 1864, was the youngest son of one Jeremiah Mack, not Josiah, as stated. The names of the other children in the Jeremiah Mack family were:

1. Joshua, born 1780 who has many descendants living in Oswego county, N.Y. near Mexico and New Haven.
2. Joseph, died young.
3. Ezra.
4. Levi, whose will was probated in Oswego county, Jan. 14, 1858.
5. Phoebe, died young.
6. Elisha, bom May. 3, 1791, who married Jesse Taylor, Madison county, N.Y.
7. Jerusha who married first a Wood, second a Barrs.
8. John.

Jeremiah Mack is said to have married one Elizabeth Barber, a widow of one Col. Bouton. They were married at Valley Forge, probably about 1779. Jeremiah was a soldier in the Revolutionary war, serving three years and is believed to have enlisted from Connecticut. Does anyone know of his further ancestry? Evidence points to his being a son of one Ezra Mack, a brother of John (called Deacon) Mack. Ezra was born April 1, 1722 and was the son of John Mack and Love Bennett of Lyme, Conn. Ezra's grandfather was John Mack, who immigrated from Scotland in 1669 and who married Sarah Bagley at Boston April 5, 1681.

John Mack, son of Jeremiah, married first Mehitible Barstow Feb. 16, 1819. By this marriage, there was one child, William born Feb. 9, 1920. He married secondly on Sept. 15, 1823, Electa Tuby (Treman's Genealogy has it True) and some other records refer to it as Treebee. She died April 10, 1855 and is buried in the Stockbridge Cemetery, Madison county, N.Y. Does anyone know of her further ancestry?

Children of John and Electa Mack were:

1. Russell born July 4, 1824, Madison county, N.Y.
2. Jeremiah born Oct 6, 1826.
3. James Irving born March 22, 1828 died Feb. 4, 1902.
4. George born Feb. 4, 1835, died May 12, 1841, buried at Stockbridge.
5. Mary E. born March 6, 1837 who married John P. Davis.

James Irving Mack married Dec. 24, 1851 Martha Esther Thurston at Stockbridge, Madison county, N. Y. Does anyone know of her parentage or ancestry? She is believed to have been a granddaughter of one Moses Thurston. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who is interested in and has any old records of these particular families.

STANLEY L MACK.
